The college is named after the country’s prominent freedom fighter, great administrator and the recipient of the Bharat Ratna-- Sh. Govind Ballabh Pant, and is duly affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University (Shimla). This college came into existence in July, 1959 but was formally inaugurated on 11th November, 1959 by Raja Bajrang Bahadur Singh of Bhadri estate, the then lieutenant Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
