The Geographical society is running in this college since 2006 which is dedicated to fostering interest and engagement in the field of geography. It serves as a valuable bridge between academic learning and practical application, providing students with opportunities to explore geographical concepts beyond the classroom. It represents almost 350 students from UG and PG classes. It is headed by Dr. Anuradha Negi Kanain including other 24 executive members.
Promoting Geographical Awareness: To cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of geography among students and the wider college community. This includes raising awareness about importance of geography, current geographical issues, research, and career opportunities.
Enhancing Learning Experiences: To supplement classroom learning through practical activities like field trips, workshops, competetions and guest lectures. These experiences offer hands-on learning opportunities and expose students to diverse perspectives within geography.
Developing Skills: To equip students with practical skills relevant to geography, such as cartography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and data analysis.
Fostering Networking: To create a platform for students to connect with peers, faculty members, and professionals in the field. This networking can lead to mentorship opportunities, research collaborations, and career guidance.
Fieldwork and excursions: To conduct field trips and excursions to explore geographical phenomena firsthand and to promote a deeper appreciation of the local environment.
Community Engagement: To connect with the local community through outreach programs, environmental awareness campaigns, and participation in local geographical initiatives. This fosters a sense of social responsibility and applies geographical knowledge to real-world issues.
Providing Career Guidance: To offer information and resources regarding career paths in geography, including potential employers, opportunities and post graduate programs. This helps students explore their options and plan for their future careers.
We hope that through this initiative most of the students will be influenced to join us and create awareness about this subject and it's importance.
